Come experience our trail network and the magic of the White Mountain region

The Hummingbird Center is a recreation destination located on the southwest corner of the White Mountain National Forest, boasting picturesque four-season views of the Baker River Valley, Mt. Moosilauke, and Mt. Carr.

We are located only a 30 minute drive from much of the outdoor fun New Hampshire has to offer. Take a day trip and hike on the Appalachian Trail or White Mountain National Forest lands, or enjoy the thrills and calm of paddling a canoe on the Baker River, Mascoma Lake, Lower Baker Pond, Stinson Lake, Newfound Lake, or Lake Tarleton.

Down in the valley, the renowned Rumney Crag provides an amazing array of rock climbing for all skill levels. There are hundreds of bolted anchor and traditional climbs, ranging from beginner routes rated 5.7 to challenge routes rated 5.14. Come to climb or be a spectator at this unparalleled natural wonder.

Onsite, visitors have access to a vast network of trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. In the winter, our ski trails are maintained by a drag groomer. Our mountain bike trails vary in riding style from machine built flow to rugged hand built, highlighting the roots and rocks of the New Hampshire mountains. Bike enthusiasts can expect lots of climbing and swift downhill descents thanks to Dorchester’s naturally steep terrain. Our machine built trails feature berms and table tops for fast flowing action, while our skills areas provide a venue for kids of all ages to practice and enjoy hours of confidence-building repetitions. Our trails link directly to Green Woodlands, a network of bike and ski trails spanning 23,000 acres, totally free for public enjoyment.

After traveling the mountains, woods, and waterways, come back to the farm and relax. We have two swimming ponds with floating docks, hammocks, and picnic tables. We offer meal service, beer and wine, ice cream, camping, and comfortable indoor lodging. During the warmer months, visitors can join educational workshops and restorative activities such as yoga classes and sound baths. Check online for a current schedule of events, or contact us to schedule a private group retreat.

While you’re on the farm, we hope you take the time to enjoy the natural beauty of the White Mountain Region. Sit by the firepit and enjoy a night sky full of stars. Grill for yourself or savor the variety of seasonal food offered at Nourish restaurant, located onsite. Let the kids do laps on the trails while you lounge at the water’s edge. With such an abundance of activities onsite, guests can play, eat, and rest all day without ever needing to get in the car.

The Hummingbird Center and Green Woodlands together boast an impressive 50 miles of machine built single track, 50 miles of gravel grinding trails and 70 km of groomed cross country ski trails all free to the public.
